For the 40th straight semester and 20th year in a row, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Department of Athletics boasted at least a 3.00 GPA. This past spring semester, the Mountain Lions earned a 3.336 GPA, with all 14 programs notching a 3.00 team GPA or higher.
"Congratulations Mountain Lions on another successful year in the classroom!" said Executive Director of Athletics Nathan Gibson. "This was a milestone year, reaching 40 consecutive semesters/20 years in a row of a 3.0+ GPA. This is a great accomplishment for the current and former Mountain Lions and is a hallmark of the UCCS Athletic Department. This could not be done without the hard work of our student-athletes along with the great support of our coaches, staff and faculty who give great support to our students. Great job, Mountain Lions!"
Five teams secured at least a 3.30 team GPA this past semester. Women's soccer led all 14 programs with a 3.668 GPA, followed by women's cross country (3.616 GPA), softball (3.523 GPA), women's lacrosse (3.485 GPA) and men's cross country (3.316 GPA).
Between the winter and spring teams competing this semester (basketball, track and field, baseball, softball and lacrosse), 20 student-athletes were named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team while 116 more were named to the Honor Roll. Maison White and Mac Stodart highlighted the academic achievements with College Sports Communicators Academic All-District First Team honors, with Audrey Bloomquist sweeping the RMAC Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year selections.
For the entire 2023-24 academic year, the Mountain Lions earned a 3.289 GPA as a department. Women's soccer took home the highest team GPA for the year, garnering a 3.609.
Nearly 120 student-athletes were named to the President's List (47) and the Dean's List (71). To qualify for these semester honors, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 graded hours during a regular semester (Fall or Spring). Students who achieve a 4.00 grade point average are placed on the President's List, and students who achieve a 3.75-3.99 grade point average are placed on the Dean's List.
