Giving Tuesday continues to break records

For the third year in a row, UCCS had a record number of donors on Giving Tuesday.

This year’s campaign totaled $127,369 from 689 gifts, with more than $900,000 total raised on Giving Tuesday since 2015. Additionally, the 500 donors challenge match from AFCEA was met. Russ Fellers, the AFCEA Vice President of Education, presented a check to Chancellor Sobanet at the Faculty and Staff Breakfast.

Two new funds were introduced to great success, with both exceeding their match amount: the HEROES scholarship, showing the community’s commitment to and support of our military students, and the MOSAIC 20th anniversary scholarship, highlighting the importance of the department and its devotion to our students.

Big Cat Coffee commemorated Giving Tuesday with special “Sip for a Cause” stickers and QR codes on drink sleeves while introducing a new giving opportunity as well – a portion of proceeds from purchases put to one of three funds, chosen by customers casting votes. Clyde’s Cupboard won the vote and will put the money raised to great use by supporting students in need.

“The Mountain Lion Family really showed up to support UCCS students this Giving Tuesday!” said Sara Daum, Annual Giving Engagement Program Director. “The money raised will fund scholarships, provide medical care, offer opportunities for professional development, and fill pantries. We are so grateful to have a community of alumni, faculty and staff, friends of the campus, and even students themselves who want to make a difference in someone else’s life.”

Designated as a global day to give back after the shopping holidays of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday encourages gifts of any size to organizations that make an impact in communities.
