The UCCS Police Department has convened a new council to provide collaboration, insight and a wider campus perspective that will ultimately help the police become a more efficient department and provide a better experience for everyone.
The council includes:
- Harper Johnson, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer
- David Siegel, Executive Director of the Ent Center for the Arts
- Amanda Allee, Dean of Students
- Karlye Enkler, International Student and Scholar Advisor, International Affairs
- Chris Beiswanger, Director of Admissions
- Henriikka Weir, Associate Professor, College of Public Service
- Chris Valentine, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communication
- Jerilyn Taylor, Director Operations, Human Resources
- Axel Brown, Student Body President
The group will meet once per semester to advise on new campuswide policies, participate in strategic planning, and brainstorm ways the police department could better serve the campus community.
Council members also provide the campus with more opportunities to offer input and feedback. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to approach the council with ideas or comments if they do not feel comfortable going to the police directly.
“This council will help our department maintain a strong and transparent relationship with our community,” said Dewayne McCarver, Chief of Police & Executive Director of Public Safety. “We’re always trying to improve in any way we can, and this group will help us be that much better.”
