UCCS students and their families joined the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences students, staff, faculty and the athletic training team for the annual Trek the Trail 5K trail run/walk on Oct. 15.
A team of about 15 student volunteers and over 200 race participants ensured a successful UCCS Family Weekend event. The college extends a special thank you to attendees and donors for supporting the Trek the Trail 5K event and the student scholarship fund.
The Trek the Trail 5K fosters leadership opportunities for students and is a zero-waste event focusing on sustainable, leave-no-trace ethics. The Trek the Trail 5K features beautiful UCCS natural campus trails and is the official UCCS Family Weekend 5K.
The event is co-hosted by Johnson Beth-El Nursing and Health Science’s students and organizations:
- Mountain Lions on the Move
- Health Promotion and Health Coach program Interns
- Athletic Training
The race is a fun run that is a part of an entire weekend of events dedicated to the growing UCCS community. Since 2014, the Trek the Trail 5K event has raised over $9,000 in scholarship funds and supported more than 21 Johnson Beth-El students. See you on the trail next year!
