On Aug. 30, the UCCS PGA Golf Management program celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Ed’s Place, a newly renovated space that will serve as the program’s Alumni Hall of Fame, alumni showcase, Club Repair Lab, learning laboratory and more.

Ed’s Place is named in memory of beloved Ed Kelbel, the former program director who served from 2008 until his death in 2012.

Students, alumni, donors and the UCCS community were in attendance for the room reveal and Rosemary Kelbel, Ed’s wife did the honor of cutting the ribbon.

Mark Bacheldor, current PGA Program Director, and several others spoke about the PGA program and how it has grown over the past 20 years. Many acknowledged the donors and staff members who helped make the renovated space possible through their vision and financial contributions.

“This is a place where everyone belongs and will always belong,” said Bacheldor. “Where students will collaborate, where they will meet, where we introduce new students to a career in the PGA of America, where we educate students, where students grow and learn. It will embody the spirit of its new namesake: Ed’s Place. Ed was nothing short of welcoming and encouraging, uplifting and inspiring. It is a humbling privilege for me to stand here today and dedicate this space to Ed’s honor; with the promise that this program and this space will forever be welcoming to all.”
