White named Athlete of the Week

UCCS sophomore guard Derrick White was named the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group Athlete of the Week for Jan. 13-19 after averaging 23 points per game.

White finished with a game-high 26 points.

White came within two assists of a triple-double against Colorado Christian with 28 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. It was the second double-double of his career, and was helped by a 14-15 performance at the free throw line. White is fourth in UCCS career records for free throws made and is fifth in the conference at the midway point of the season with 19.2 points per game.

White is the only student-athlete in the RMAC ranked in the top five for scoring, blocked shots and assists. He has helped lead the Mountain Lions to a fifth-place standing in the conference with half of the schedule left to play.
