Postponed: UCCS community invited to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and Action

“Everyone can be great because everybody can serve,” spoke Martin Luther King, Jr. in a call to service. This January, the UCCS community can answer that call during the MLK Day of Service and Action, a two-day event to be held — subject to COVID-19 precautions — on Jan. 21–22, 2022.

The MLK Day of Service and Action complements the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day federal holiday as an opportunity for UCCS students, faculty, staff and alumni to begin the new year by investing in the health and wellbeing of the broader Colorado Springs community. Participants can volunteer for service projects across the community and participate in educational workshops focused on activism, advocacy and King’s teachings.

The two-day event is free and open to all UCCS students, staff, faculty, alumni, and affiliated friends and family. Hyflex options will be available for the keynote speech, many of the workshops and for some of the service projects.

Workshops and service project sign-ups will be posted in early January. To receive reminders to sign up, RSVP for the event.
