This team is amazing! They have created an awesome way to celebrate our 2020 grads with celebration boxes mailed to students. In a time when the university is struggling to stay connected to students due to physical separation, the Alumni Relations team revamped the game. These boxes are a bright and shiny smile mailed to each student in a COVID world where smiles are harder to come by. This will be something these new alumni remember for a long time.
Thank you, team! Great innovation, great product and I’m sure it will have great outcomes. You make UCCS look good.

For their hard work, generosity and helpfulness. This team is extremely quick and helpful whenever information is needed for a mailing and always will to go the extra mile to make sure things get done as fast as possible.

I appreciate coming into work each day because of the people I work with. The providers, medical assistants, reception, clinic operations manager, clinic director, campus and faculty support what we do and make it possible for us to continue doing this despite the fatigue of COVID. In this week of Thanksgiving, I am so grateful to call these people friends every day.
To: Web Services Team
From: Mark Belcher
Craig, Leo, Ryan and Mike are a pleasure to work with. I couldn’t ask for better partners in the dozens of projects we work on each month. Thank you all very much for what you do.
Individuals
To: Allison Noel
From: Jacqui Gatlin
Allison has been key in communicating, organizing and advocating for the new VA regulation changes related to student veteran benefits. Her excellent communication continued participation in VA training, resources and outreach has been essential to UCCS being able to interpret, advocate up and ensure the best interests of our student veterans is at the forefront.
To: Amanda Garcia
From: Anon.
Amanda took extra time and steps to help one of our newly admitted transfer foreign students to understand the complex admission decision and enrollment process and the pathway for this foreign student to become successful in the desired major. Amanda took additional initiatives working with the students government sponsor/advisor to clarify our enrollment process.
To: Anna Squires
From: Alex Baker
Oh man, oh man. My dear friend Anna Squires has helped me, both personally and professionally, so very much over the last few weeks. From helping me write communications, to getting me connected to key people, to brainstorming new and exciting ideas for our campus, Anna has been there every step of the way. In addition to all of this and more, Anna has been a listening ear. I’m so very appreciative of her and her friendship.

Kudos to Anna for always being forward-thinking and solution-oriented. You continue to inspire me!
To: Benek Altayli, Missy Sernatinger & Paul Deniston
From: Robin Margolin
These three Student Affairs leaders volunteered to come in on Thanksgiving evening to serve our students dinner at Roaring Fork. They were committed to making students feel welcomed, a part of the UCCS community and loved. Students appreciated their warm wishes for a happy Thanksgiving and their heaping portions of food! Their dedication to the students is amazing! Dining and Hospitality Services can’t thank them enough!
To: Casi Frasier
From: Stephanie Hanenberg
Casi has been an amazing support staff for for the Dean of Students search. Her proactive approach to getting things done has made the process run smoothly and efficiently. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her.
To: Claire Ami
From: Danny Pape
Claire has truly been the glue to keep the Career Center rolling throughout her three years in the office. Her energy and enthusiasm are so infectious and everyone she meets she always finds a way to connect them within the UCCS community. She truly is a connector and collaborator. Claire is taking a new role on campus and she will be missed dearly in the office!! UCCS is lucky to keep her!!

From: Joanna Bean
Big thanks to Eric from the Alumni Relations and Annual Giving office for connecting students with our student worker position.
To: Eric Nissen & Kayla Gronseth Boyer
From: Anna Squires
The biggest of kudos to Eric and Kayla, who created the staff survey checking in on our campus. In this season of gratitude, I’m grateful for their skill, initiative, empathy and drive. Most of all, I’m grateful that they show up every day to put their hearts into their work. We’re so lucky to have them.
To: Jeff Foster
From: Joanna Bean
Thanks to Jeff for being such a great partner to the Alumni Relations and Annual Giving office – in this case, for checking to make sure our fundraising call center puts its best UCCS foot forward with the proper caller ID branding.

To: Joanna Bean
From: Liz Bunkers
I would like to thank and celebrate my boss, Joanna for her friendship, support, and leadership. She has had a very busy semester between leading our team, teaching, and being a student herself. She is a great encouragement to me and I am thankful to be on the Alumni team!! 😊
To: Kathryn Dosch
From: Nicole
Kathryn is an amazing example of an effective and supportive leader, not only in our clinic but also our community. She takes the time to check in with each of us one on one, bakes goodies and made us individual care packages, and encourages and reinforces self-care. She is never “too busy” to talk to to, consult with, or get feedback from. She really goes above and beyond.
To: Kayla Gronseth Boyer
From: Crayton Daniel
Kudos to Kayla for her hard work on the Giving Tuesday campaign. From brainstorming ideas to creating videos and graphics, thanks for all you’ve done!
To: Matt Roeseman & Charlie Kuehler
From: Sabrina Wienholtz
I’m sometimes in over my head in the land of UCCS financials these days – pulling together complicated reports at the last minute. Matt and Charlie are always willing to lend a hand and teach me what I need to know to get it done. Basically, they make me better at my job (and make me look good). Also, the memes. So. many. memes.
To: Megan Bell & Ellen Burkart
From: Sandy Ho
I have been out sick and it has been very challenging navigating a pandemic, acclimating to a new position on campus, coming up on my sister’s death anniversary, and caring for my parents. And anyone who knows me knows I’m a worker bee. I like to work and work a lot, but haven’t been able to be at maximum productivity. I will admit that I was struggling with some pretty dark moments. In addition to everyone in the College of Education, Dr. Bell and Ellen reached out and encouraged me to get support. I know everyone is going through a lot right now and have plenty of their own responsibilities and concerns. Having respected colleagues take their precious (and limited) time and effort to ensure I knew I was valued and needed, made a world of difference. A good reminder for anyone that many people (sometimes ones you do not see regularly) care very much about you. Thank you both for going above and beyond.
To: Nan Kerr
From: Anon.
Nan is a positive light among executive assistants and admin assistants who normally conduct much of their work in person. Throughout this COVID time she has worked tirelessly with onboarding three new people performing jobs like hers. She checks in with them and helps them connect with other campus organizations.
To: Robin Bredl
From: Rebecca Wilder
Robin has helped to collect and deposit checks for my office while I’ve had to remain home with quarantined children and kiddos schooling from home.
To: Ryan Janke
From: Ryan LaRoy
Ryan is always willing to help out on last minute projects. He jumped on board with the LionShare project and did an amazing job. We couldn’t have done it without him.
To: Sarah Elsey
From: Paige Koster
I really appreciate the amazing support Sarah has been to the College of Education and our recruitment efforts! Sarah is always available to host events, promptly responds to emails and communicates effectively with everyone involved. She really goes above and beyond to make sure our events are successful. Thanks for all you do Sarah!
To: Sloan Gonzales
From: Brad Bayer
Props to Sloan Gonzales, Program Director of CLC and UCCSlead, who contributed the chapter entitled “Stuck in the middle of a flattened culture” in the recently published book, “Disney Channel Tween Programing – Essays on shoes from Lizzie McGuire to Andi Mack.”
To: Stephanie Hanenberg & Billie Jo Baptiste
From: James Eggen
The beginning of November saw an incredible inflation of COVID-19 cases in the county and especially at UCCS. Stephanie and Billie Jo provided prompt service and clear direction to our students to mitigate the risk of spread. This was accomplished through 16-hour days where countless phone calls were made, students traced, records made all while conducting a normal rate of patient load. I find comfort in knowing these two are guiding the health of our student body.
To: Stephanie Von Fange
From: Daisy McGowan
Stephanie is passionately dedicated to our students in her position as the Exhibitions and Program Manager for the UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art. It shows in their retention as student employees, typically staying with us for all four years if we are able to hire as freshmen.
Stephanie works very hard to create an environment of respect and learning for the students, as well as the professional artists, contractors, and UCCS staff and faculty whom we work with to realize major projects for GOCA. The recent “Windmill Project” is a prime example of this, due in large part to the fact that we would not have pulled off a sculpture of this scale without her careful and thoughtful project management. Especially after coming off a serious and demoralizing furlough period at the Ent Center, her positive energy and commitment to excellence and respect is so valuable to UCCS and our arts community.
