Today, Nov. 11, the Office of Information Technology will begin to decommission Filelocker and replace it with the new service, LionShare, as the preferred filesharing platform.
Filelocker, UCCS’ secure alternative filesharing platform, has been serving the campus community since April 2013 and has provided over 1,950 downloads to users on and off-campus in the last year.
Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to use LionShare over alternative platforms such as Google or DropBox. Benefits of LionShare include:
- Single Sign-On with UCCS credentials
- User-friendly interface
- Easy to navigate
- Customizable message
- Drag and drop file upload
- 4GB file upload (email [email protected] for a one-time exception for additional upload capacity)
- 24x7x365 OIT support
- Securely transfer files to anyone in the world
Once the file or files have been sent, the intended recipients will receive an email providing them with instructions on downloading the securely transferred file.
Filelocker will continue to work for campus users through the end of November, but current users should remove any files they need at their earliest convenience.
The name LionShare was voted on by UCCS OIT Twitter followers and power users of the current Filelocker system.
