The refreshing and energetic young chamber orchestra A Far Cry will bring its unique classical music style to the Ent Center for the Arts Feb. 11. Tickets for the 7 p.m. performance in the Shockley-Zalabak Theater are on sale through the Ent Center Box Office online and at (719) 255-3232.

Presented by the UCCS Presents Artist Series, the Boston-based self-conducted orchestra was founded in 2007 and is known for its unique approach to the chamber repertoire. A Far Cry has popularized orchestral performances for a younger generation and topped the classical music charts. The orchestra was nominated for two Grammy Awards in Best Small Ensemble and Best Engineered for its 2018 album "Visions and Variations."

“As a former orchestral musician myself, I am astonished by the level of virtuosity and chamber music making on display by A Far Cry. This is one of the finest chamber orchestras I’ve heard in some time,” said Aisha Ahmad-Post, director of the Ent Center for the Arts.

The 18-piece orchestra will perform Arvo Pärt’s "Cantus in Memoriam of Benjamin Britten," Mozart’s Serenade No. 6 in D Major, Edward Elgar’s "Introduction and Allegro," and the Tchaikovsky "Serenade for Strings," which will be performed from memory.

The UCCS Presents Artist Series brings the world to Colorado Springs by leveraging the Ent Center for the Arts to connect world-class performers with the people of southern Colorado. Founded in 2018, the Artist Series features emerging and venerated musicians, dancers, and live performance experiences.
