Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the third annual Sustainability Summit on Nov. 21, a half-day opportunity to hear about efforts to make UCCS a more sustainable place to live, learn and work.
The summit will feature presentations from students, faculty and staff working on innovative sustainability solutions on campus. Participants will have an opportunity to provide input on UCCS’ draft 2030 Strategic Plan, which emphasizes sustainability as a core component, and make recommendations for further progress.
Over a local, seasonal lunch, participants will hear a keynote presentation from Jeni Cross, a professor of sociology at Colorado State University.
Cross’ TedX talk on the three myths of behavior change has been viewed over one million times on YouTube and been adapted in dozens of courses across the globe in social science an environmental science courses. Her keynote at the event will explore how social change happens, how new behaviors spread, how organizations can accelerate change and how social networks can act as the key to scaling positive efforts towards sustainability.
The summit will conclude with team sessions that invite participants to reflect on what they have learned and areas in their lives and work that could benefit from a focus on sustainability.
Register for the summit on the Office of Sustainability website. For more information on the event, contact Kimberly Reeves.
