Mayor to present Spirit of the Springs Award

Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach will present members of the UCCS Inline Hockey Club with a Spirit of the Springs Award during a brief ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m. May 10 at the Campus Recreation Center.

Bach will present the award to Taylor Gebhart, club president, and a sophomore geography and environmental studies major. Bach will recognize Mallory Price, intramural and club sports coordinator; Daniel Bowan, manager, Campus Recreation Center, and Matt Gaden, director, Campus Recreation Center.

The 15-member Inline Hockey Club won a national championship April 14 at the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association Tournament in Fort Meyers, Fla. For more information about the team and its path, visit https://communique.uccs.edu/?p=10484.

Spirit of the Springs celebration awards are given by the mayor to recognize citizens when a volunteer activity or noteworthy achievement has brought great honor and pride to the City of Colorado Springs or has been distinguished at a state, national, or international level.
