Lilly Ledbetter, a leader in the fight to close wage gaps between women and men, wowed more than 200 people who attended a public speech at the Gallogly Events Center and a private reception Monday night.

Ledbetter, Jacksonville, Ala., spoke about her fight for equal pay and fair treatment by her employer and the efforts that led to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. In 2009, the act became an amendment to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. She also signed copies of her book “Grace and Grit: My Fight for Equal Pay and Fairness at Goodyear and Beyond.”

Her visit to Colorado Springs is made possible by the Pikes Peak Women and Women’s Resource Agency.
