Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. July 5 at Mountain View Mortuary Chapel, 2350 Montebello Square Drive for Joshua Dyer, locksmith, Facilities Services. Dyer died June 29.
A UCCS employee since 2011, Dyer was known for his attention to detail and passion for the safety and security of campus. He was the first full-time locksmith employed by the university.

Joshua Lee Dyer "Josh," 34, of Colorado Springs, Colorado went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 29, 2012. Josh was born on February 27th, 1978 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas to Polly A. (O'Dell) Dyer & Richard L. Dyer. Josh was the first of two children. Josh's brother, Ryan, joined the family six years later. Josh graduated from Air Academy High School in 1996 and attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. On June 6th, 2010 in Colorado Springs, Josh pledged his love to his life partner, Jason Duffy. To everyone who knew him, he was a loving partner, caring son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend. He loved his family, animals, the outdoors, four wheeling, camping, and fixing anything. He was an avid NASCAR Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan. He loved country music, Jeeps and helping others. He was there at a moment's notice for his friends and family when a job needed completed. Josh was an Eagle Scout. He had a diverse background and enjoyed new challenges. He received his Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL) designation, was a Safe Technician and Realtor. He was employed as Locksmith Manager at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He is survived by his partner, Jason Duffy of the home; Parents, Polly & Rick Dyer; Brother, Ryan Dyer all of Colorado Springs; Grandparents, Marean L. & Donnie E. Dyer of Hastings, Nebraska; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers-in-Law, Sisters-in-Law, Nieces, Nephews, In-Laws Lou and Gene Christian and Kathryn and Randy Duffy. Josh was further survived by his fur babies, Abby, Buddy, Roxy and Minny. He was preceded in death by Grandparents, Helen & Roy Jones and Grandfather Francis H. O'Dell and the family pet, Little Lady. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Mortuary Chapel, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado. This saddens me very much. I was just speaking to Josh last week and I am in shock. He was so helpful and so friendly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
I am saddened and shocked to learn this terrible news. Josh was such a friendly colleague and always willing to lend a hand – my deepest condolences to his family and friends. I’m so very sorry for their loss.
I will deeply miss seeing and talking to Josh. He was a more than a co-worker, he was a friend. I will keep his family in my prayers and him in my memories.
I just randomly found this site and I am in complete shock to read that Josh has passed away. I still can not beleive what I am reading. I am an old college friend (a mom away from his Colorado home) of his from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. My heart and prayers go out to his family.
