Students transferring to UCCS for the spring semester increased by more than 8 percent compared to a year ago and by more than 24 percent over the past two years, according to the Office of Institutional Research.
For Spring 2013, 620 transfer students enrolled, a 50 student or more than 8 percent increase from 2012. In 2011, 499 transfer students enrolled making the two-year increase in transfer students a 24 percent or 121 student increase.
“We have placed an emphasis on helping students at Pikes Peak Community College and other southern Colorado community colleges understand that UCCS is an excellent choice for them to continue their education,” Homer Wesley, vice chancellor, Student Success and Enrollment Management, said. “I believe these increases are the result of the diligent efforts of many people.”
Wesley pointed out increases in transfer students as part of a positive Spring 2013 enrollment. A total 9,434 students enrolled for the spring 2013 semester, a 441 student or 4.9 percent increase from the 8,993 students who enrolled for spring 2012.
Student credit hours – the number of students on campus and the courses in which they are enrolled – also increased. For spring 2013, students enrolled in 109,724 credit hours, an increase of 5,979 credit hours or 5.8 percent more than the spring 2012 record of 103,745 credit hours.
UCCS and PPCC are working together to highlight efforts to streamline enrollment processes. PPCC will soon launch a “start here, finish there” campaign to direct students to UCCS and a large UCCS sign within view of PPCC students was recently installed.
