Three UCCS student clubs have put politics aside in an effort to help the Colorado Springs community with a campus wide food drive this Thanksgiving.
The UCCS College Republicans, Young Americans for Liberty, and Young Democrats of UCCS will be collecting non-perishable food items throughout campus until Nov. 20.
“The idea was to have a joint non-partisan activity after the presidential election despite the outcome,” Danielle Glassner, junior, Political Science, and community service coordinator, UCCS College Republicans said. “We will be delivering the food to Care and Share, will be distributed to those who are in need.”
According to Glassner, the most needed items are canned fruits and vegetables, canned soup, canned meats or tuna, peanut butter, cereal and oatmeal.
Donation boxes can be found in the Kraemer Family Library, the University Center, Columbine Hall, Dwire Hall, the Osborne Center and Centennial Hall. Club representatives will have a table in the University Center on Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
