University Club treated to campus update and beer tasting

The University Club hosted its annual kick-off reception on Sept. 14 in the Upper Lodge.

More than 45 local community and business leaders attended the event, which included a brief campus update from Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak, an introduction by Mary Fagnant, president, University Club, and a lecture by Mike Bristol, founder and owner, Bristol Brewing Company.

Bristol explained the importance of community outreach, highlighting the brewery’s efforts to sustainably expand and connect with the Colorado Springs community. Bristol showed two videos of their renovations to the Ivywild Elementary School before leading the University Club members and guests through four beer and food pairing stations.

Bristol’s Beehive ale was paired with Wisconsin-aged cheddar and bacon tartlettes
and pretzel crusted shrimp skewers.

Bristol’s Mass Transit was paired with pulled BBQ chicken sliders and beignets with powdered sugar.
