A feasibility study discussion of streetcars as public transportation will come to UCCS beginning at 5:30 p.m. April 26 at the University Center.

The public meeting is intended as a forum to discuss the possibility of a streetcar system in Colorado Springs with one of the potential routes being along North Nevada and connecting campus to downtown.

Topics include potential route alignments, funding options and streetcar vehicle designs, environmental benefits of such a system and updates as the feasibility study enters its final phase.

Streetcars operated in Colorado Springs from 1887 to 1931 with a ridership peak in 1911. Some cities are embracing the old fashioned idea to deal with modern transportation challenges. For more about the streetcars in Colorado Springs proposal, visit www.csstreetcar.com
