Leigh Perraeault, associate professor, School of Medicine, CU-Denver, will lead a discussion of diabetes as part of Café Scientifique scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 11 at Clyde’s in the University Center.
Perreault will share her experience with Type 2 diabetes and theories about its causes. A widely accepted theory is that Type 2 diabetes is caused by obesity and sedentary lifestyle. Perreault will discuss an alternative theory that chronic exposure to environmental chemicals may cause the disease.

The UCCS Department of Public Safety will provide free parking from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 11 in parking lots 3 and 4 located south of Centennial Hall and the University Center.
