Chefs to headline Aging Center event

Adam Gertler

Two celebrity chefs will be featured as part of a Sept. 8 fundraising event for the CU Aging Center.

Adam Gertler, host of Food Network’s primetime series, “Kid in a Candy Store,” Gertler uncovers the most outrageous, innovative sweet treats as he travels the nation visiting the bakeries, restaurants, food carts, and factories where America’s favorites are produced.

Gertler will be joined by Shane Edward Lyons, a Colorado Springs-born, actor and chef known as a regular performer on the hit Nickelodeon show “All That.” Lyons was also a contestant on the Food Network’s “The Next Food Network Star” and is the former executive chef at the Nosh.

Gertler and Lyons became friends as contestants on “The Next Food Network Star” and will bring that chemistry to the 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. event at the Lodge. Tickets are $125 each and are available by calling 667-0187.

Proceeds will benefit the CU Aging Center, according to Lynette Van Eaton, project coordinator, Gerontology Center. For more about the CU Aging Center, visit www.uccs.edu/agingcenter.
