Mollie Sutherland, acting director, PGA Golf Management Program, will be the program’s official director.
Venkat Reddy, dean, College of Business, announced Sutherland’s appointment May 30.
Since April, Sutherland served as acting director and she previously served as the program’s internship coordinator. She replaces Ed Kelbel who passed away March 28.
“I’m honored to have been chosen to continue Ed’s legacy in building a program that is strong in skills and academics,” Sutherland said. “We are committed to student success and strong representing the PGA of America values as we prepare the next generation of leaders in the golf industry.”
Reddy said: “We are looking forward to Mollie building on the good work of her predecessor, Ed Kelbel, and continuing to place our program as one of the premier programs in the country. Her professional network and relationships with internship sites is remarkable and undeniably student centered.”
Sutherland is an active member of the PGA of America and LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division. She is one of 188 golf professionals worldwide to hold dual certification with both organizations. Locally, she serves on several Colorado PGA section committees and is the LPGA central section education coordinator. Her professional career includes managing and operating private country clubs and public course operations in Arizona, Nevada and Colorado. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico where she was a member of the Division I Women’s Golf Team. At UCCS, she serves as an instructor delivering the PGA curriculum. She also implemented a Player Development Program, delivered individual instruction, and coordinated student internship placements.
