THEATREWORKS fundraiser attracts campus and community notables

A who’s who among CU, UCCS and Colorado Springs community members will participate in a March 31 fundraiser for THEATREWORKS.

Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak, as well as Sally Hybl and daughter, Mallory, will join Leah Chandler-Mills, instructor, Department of Visual and Performing Arts, and theater regulars Christopher Lowell, Jane Noseworthy and Tom Paradise in “Oops! A Night of Glorious Mistakes at THEATREWORKS.”

The local actors and community leaders will take the stage in not-so-typecast roles at a cabaret-style event that begins at 6 p.m. at the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theater in University Hall. The event will be hosted by Sammie Joe Kinnett, a Colorado Springs actor known for his portrayals of Captain Braid Beard in “How I became a Pirate,” Teddy Bruster in “Arsenic and Old Lace,” Officer Lockstock in “Urinetown the Musical” and Noah Joad in the “Grapes of Wrath.”

“This promises to be real hoot in addition to supporting the 2012-13 season,” Caitlin Green, development director, THEATREWORKS, said.

Tickets for the event are $75, a portion of which may be tax deductible. The event begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails, the cabaret begins at 7 p.m. and music and dancing is planned for 8 p.m.
