Dean finalists announced for College of Letters, Arts and Sciences

Peter Braza, acting associate provost, University of North Florida, will present his qualifications to be dean of the UCCS College of Letters, Arts and Sciences during a campus forum scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Feb. 23 in the University Center Theater.

Update: Due to our beautiful snow and late campus opening, we have made some changes to Dr. Peter Braza’s interview schedule.  His presentation to campus will now take place at 4:00 in UC 302/Theatre today, Thursday, February 23rd.

Braza’s career at UNF dates to 1988 when he began as assistant professor of mathematics. During the past 23 years, he was promoted to associate professor and full professor. His administrative appointments include associate dean of the UNF College of Arts and Sciences and interim dean of the UNF College of Computing, Engineering and Construction.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and master’s and Ph.D. from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.

Braza is the sixth and final candidate to visit UCCS.

Tammy Stone, professor, Department of Anthropology, CU-Denver, was introduced as a finalist and conducted a public forum Feb. 17. Manual Avalos, director of research partnerships and innovation, University of North Carolina, Wilmington, was introduced as a finalist and conducted a public forum Feb. 9. Elizabeth Throop, interim dean, Siebens School of Business and visiting professor of anthropology, Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa, was introduced as a finalist and conducted a public forum Jan. 31. Kathleen Tiemann, interim dean, College of Arts and Sciences, University of North Dakota, was introduced as a finalist and conducted a public forum Jan. 23. Rex Welson, associate dean, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, was introduced as a finalist and conducted a public forum Jan. 18.

The finalists were announced Jan. 11 by Teri Switzer, dean, Kraemer Family Library, and search committee chair.
