Pamela Z, a Guggenheim award winning performance artist, wil lead a collaborative concert with UCCS music students beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Gallery of Contemporary Art.
Pamela Z is a composer and media artist who works with voice, live electronic processing, sampling technology, and video. A pioneer of live digital looping techniques, she creates solo works integrating experimental extended voice, operatic bel canto, found objects, text, digital processing, and MIDI controllers that allow her to manipulate sound with physical gestures. In addition to her solo work, she has composed and recorded commissioned scores for dance, theatre, film, and new music chamber ensembles.
She will present an interdisciplinary work that resulted from her residency with students enrolled in programs offered by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts.
A $10 at-the-door donation is suggested. Students will be admitted free, according to Glen Whitehead, assistant professor and director of music, Department of Visual and Performing Arts.
Pamela Z’s residency and performance is made possible and supported by a grant from the Roser Visting Artist Program. For more information, visit http://www.uccs.edu/~peakfreq/
