Statement by Chancellor, faculty on death of student Josh Green

Funeral services are planned today, Aug. 24, for Josh Green, a Colorado Springs senior studying visual arts.

Green died Aug. 20 of complications from a serious illness.

“I offer my condolences, on behalf of the university, to the friends and family of Josh Green,” Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said.

The funeral service was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church, 2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs, with burial at 1:15 p.m. today at Cedar Hills Cemetery, Castle Rock. A reception is scheduled at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Monument.

Green, 23, graduated from Air Academy High School and was enrolled as a senior at UCCS this fall. He was remembered by Robert von Dassanowsky, professor, Visual and Performing Arts, as “a gifted student and a kind friend, well known across campus and throughout our community.”
