Heller Center to host Music Department fundraiser

A fundraiser for the UCCS Department of Music is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 18 at the Heller Center for Arts & Humanities.

Classical radio station KCME, the Peak FreQuency Creative Arts Collective of the music program of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, the Colorado Springs Conservatory and Opera Theater of the Rockies will present “The Good, the Bad, the Musical, and the Improvisational.” A $10 donation to benefit the Department of Music is suggested.

The Good, the Bad, the Musical, and the Improvisational will include performances by:

  • The Bottesini Project, the widely acclaimed Colorado free improvisation ensemble which will, weather permitting, perform outside the center at twilight. Artists Paul Riola, saxophone; Glen Whitehead, assistant professor, Visual and Performing Arts, trumpet; Lynn Baker, saxophone; Kim Stone, bass; Jay Ellis, drums.
  • Linda Weise and Amber Marek of the Colorado Springs Conservatory
  • Angelina Gadeliya, lecturer, Department of Visual and Performing Arts, and Whitehead
  • George Preston and Charlie Katz of KCME
  • Amy Mushall and Malcolm Ulbrick of Opera Theatre of the Rockies
