UCCS and Colorado Springs community members filled the City Auditorium to watch the UCCS men’s and women’s basketball teams rout Western State Colorado University at the Third Annual Downtown Classic Jan. 9.
Junior forward Alex Welsh led the Mountain Lions with 22 points and nine rebounds as No. 2 UCCS improved to 14-0 in an 86-72 victory. Junior guard Derrick White added 15 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Sam Patterson led the lady Mountain Lions with 12 points as No. 22 UCCS won its fourth straight game in a 73-58 victory.
