Photo feature: Mount Trashmore raises awareness for campus sustainability efforts

UCCS students and members of the Office of Sustainability sifted through a day’s worth of trash Nov. 20 on El Pomar Plaza to determine which items should have been recycled or composted, and to raise awareness for campus sustainability efforts.

The event was scheduled for Nov. 13, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

According to the Office of Sustainability, on average, UCCS could have recycled more than 50 percent of its trash on a daily basis. Items not being recycled include plastic water bottles, aluminum cans, and all forms of paper.
