A 30-year veteran of European public sector policy will speak to UCCS students about the political and economic challenges facing Europe in an Oct. 15 campus address.
Karl-Peter Repplinger, a German citizen and director for human resources development for the European Parliament, will speak at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 15 in Centennial Hall 186. The event is sponsored by the UCCS Chancellor’s Leadership Class and is open to all UCCS community members at no charge.
“This is a unique opportunity for UCCS students to expand their knowledge about global leadership,” Garrett Gatlin, interim director, Chancellor’s Leadership Class, said. “Mr. Repplinger will share with us the EU’s perspective on solving complex global challenges.”
Since 1995, Repplinger has served the European Parliament, the directly elected institution of the European Union. The European Parliament has 751 members who represent the largest trans-national democratic electorate with more than 375 million eligible voters.
As director of human resources, Repplinger is responsible for human resources strategy and planning for the more than 9,000 EP staff members. Previously, he headed the EP’s Economic and Monetary Affairs committee and was an adviser for economic and monetary affairs. Prior to joining the EP, he held positions within the German government.
The UCCS Chancellor’s Leadership Class is a selective scholarship program designed to improve leadership skills, personal effectiveness and to prepare students to make meaningful community contributions. For more information, visit http://www.uccs.edu/clc.
