School spirit to light the spine during Homecoming

UCCS students, staff and faculty will kickoff Homecoming 2014 at a Sept. 18 spirit rally that features the lighting of the Pedestrian Spine.

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. on El Pomar Plaza and will include free food and drinks, a meet-and-greet with UCCS student-athletes, team coaches, and representatives from UCCS clubs and organizations.

“Homecoming gives students, faculty and staff a chance to celebrate their part in the university and how great they make this place,” Stephen Cucchiara, assistant director, Office of Student Activities, said. “Strong school spirit helps unify students through the common interests of being a Mountain Lion and making their college experience the best that it can be.”

The rally will end with the Pedestrian Spine being lit with CU-colored lights that lead to an illuminated set of giant UCCS letters overlooking El Pomar Plaza. The walkway will remain lit throughout the Homecoming week.
