UCCS launched a preview of a new design for the top-level pages of its website Sept. 10 and will seek user feedback for the next two weeks.
The new design will provide quick access to the most commonly used tools, an improved user experience on mobile devices, and a streamlined structure that is easier for prospective students to navigate, according to Jerry Wilson, chief information officer, Information Technology and Martin Wood, vice chancellor, University Advancement.
To view the new design, visit www.uccs.edu/new. A feedback button is on the bottom left corner of the page. Faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to offer opinions about the new design and suggestions for improvement. The feedback may be used to modify the proposed design or incorporated into future updates.
For the next two weeks, the current and future versions of the homepage will be available. By the end of September, UCCS plans to begin using the new page exclusively.
In Oct. 2013, a group of staff from the Office of University Advancement and Information Technology’s Web Services Department discussed changes for the university’s home page with the goal of making it more effective for prospective students and others unfamiliar with the university. After consulting with faculty and staff individually and in groups, and with off-campus experts, prototypes were developed and tested. For the past several months, Megan Gallegos, marketing manager, and Jeff Foster, multimedia marketing specialist, University Advancement, worked closely with Craig Decker, web service manager, Information Technology, and other Web Services staff members, to create and implement the new design.
