The UCCS Parking & Transportation Services department, in coordination with the Office of Sustainability, has installed five new electric vehicle charging stations with dual port chargers for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
There are a total of 10 charging stations around campus, located in Lot 327 behind the Engineering and Applied Science Building, in Lot 527 adjacent to the Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center, in Level One of Gateway Garage and in both the visitor and residential sections of Alpine Garage.
All charging stations are open for public use, starting at 20 cents/kWh. You will still need a parking permit for the lot or garage in which you are charging your vehicle.
In addition to charging ports, there are parking spots around campus reserved for vehicles with a Low Emission Fuel Efficient vehicle permit around campus. You can see if your car qualifies on the Parking & Transportation website. These spots can be found in Lots 170, 173, 220, 228, and 471, as well as in Alpine Garage.
Please note that you may only park your vehicle at these chargers when you are actively charging. Vehicles must be actively charging at all times when parked in EV charging space. When the vehicle is no longer actively charging, it must be moved immediately. Vehicles in violation of this regulation may be issued a UCCS parking citation.
In order to monitor when your vehicle is done charging, Parking & Transportation Services recommends downloading the ChargePoint app, which can send notifications to your phone when your vehicle has finished charging.
