DFEI Ethics Roundtable Series: “When Bad Is Good”: The Case for More Bad Leadership in Student Leadership and Ethical Development

  • Drawing from the research of Barbara Kellerman, this DFEI roundtable presentation will explore the role of bad leadership in developing “good,” or ethical, leaders. Leadership educators within academia aspire to cultivate ethical student leaders, yet they often dedicate relatively little time to the meaningful study of unethical leaders. If the consequences of bad leadership haunt leadership education and American institutions more broadly, a deeper examination of its perpetrators is essential to developing ethical student leaders for the present cultural-historical moment. World AIDS Day 2024: HIV/STI Testing & Presentation
Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. | MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center (UC 110) & UC 303

  • To recognize World AIDS Day on December 1st, the MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center will be providing two events on Tuesday, December 3rd. World AIDS Day is dedicated to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic, the mourning of those that have died, and acknowledge the global struggle to end HIV-related stigma.
  • First Event: We are partnering with Hey719 to provide FREE HIV/STI testing from 10am – 1pm. Walk-ins welcomed, but if you want to secure a spot, you can use the QR code to register beforehand.
  • Second Event: WEST Faculty, Dr. Monet Reynoso will be presenting on the history of HIV mirroring the challenges with COVID-19. Presentation begins at 1:30pm in UC 303.

  • Hosted by the Center for the Study of Evangelicalism at UCCS, this upcoming panel discussion entitled will feature four panelists who will talk about the role that religion played in this past U.S. election and what the role of religion might be in the coming administration. Panelists include Paul Harvey, Distinguished Professor of History, UCCS; April Mack, Assistant Professor of Religion and Social Justice, Iliff School of Theology; John Hawthorne, Retired Professor of Sociology, Spring Arbor University; and David Gardiner, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, Colorado College.

Red Reminds Me…:2024 Visual AIDS: A Day Without Art

  • Red Reminds Me… is a program of seven videos reflecting the emotional spectrum of living with HIV today. Through the red ribbon and other visuals, HIV and AIDS has been long associated with the color red and its connotations—blood, pain, tragedy, and anger. Red Reminds Me… invites viewers to consider a complex range of images and feelings surrounding HIV, from eroticism and intimacy, mothering and kinship, luck and chance, memory and haunting. The commissioned artists deploy parody, melodrama, theater, irony, and horror to build a new vocabulary for representing HIV today.

  • Kick off the holidays with a show that celebrates our friends with the gift of Down Syndrome! This ninety-minute Christmas extravaganza is fun for the whole family. And best of all, it’s for a great cause: raising funds and awareness for special needs. All proceeds from this event will go to Club 21, a school in South Africa for children with Down Syndrome, and to Friends of Club 21, a non-profit in Colorado Springs.
