On Friday, Nov. 1, the UCCS Police Department launched Prepared, a text feature that will allow the campus to text the police directly.
With Prepared, dispatchers will be able to receive and respond to text messages, as well as access the sender’s phone camera if permission is granted.
The feature will also make it easier to overcome language barriers, as well as provide an easier option for individuals with disabilities.
“The new Prepared feature allows students to text the UCCS Police for assistance without needing to download an additional app,” said Shantelle Zimmer, Police Communication Manager. “While calling remains the preferred option in emergencies, this new text feature provides an alternative for students who may not be able to make a call. We always suggest students save our number in their phone for quick access in the event they need our assistance.”
You can text the UCCS Police any time at 719-255-3111.
