OIT celebrates summer technology upgrades

The UCCS Office of Information Technology (OIT) is celebrating multiple technology updates accomplished this summer.

Library Computers

The OIT Services and Operations team worked in conjunction with library staff to upgrade the outdated machines in the Kraemer Family Library. With new furniture, carpets and technology, students will be able to enjoy their time studying and collaborating with their peers in these updated spaces.

New Wireless Access Points in Housing

About 800 Wi-Fi 6E Access Points were installed in housing over the summer, and OIT is working on enabling the 6GHz band to offer more channels and higher bandwidth to students living on campus.

University Hall Classrooms get HDMI

The University Hall classrooms have been outfitted with HDMI capabilities. It was also the last building to upgrade to this standard, so the days of analog video graphics array inputs are officially done! This also means faculty can stop carrying so many adapters with their laptops.

Columbine Audio Upgrades

Did you know OIT used to drag around a ladder, open the ceiling tiles, and reset audio amplifiers in every classroom of Columbine Hall every time a power outage happened? Thanks to their classroom support team, they will no longer have to spend the time going room to room in the event of an outage. OIT is now also positioned to align those classrooms closer to AV standards as more funds become available to do so.
