UCCS partners with Leadership Pikes Peak

UCCS is partnering with Leadership Pikes Peak to elevate their Signature Program with educational credentialing, additional collaboration, financial supports and access to engaged scholars.

Under the leadership of Joe Wehrman, Ph.D., Interim Dean of the College of Education; Markus Moeder-Chandler, Ph.D., assistant teaching professor in the Counseling and Leadership Program; and Phillip Morris, Ph.D., associate professor of leadership, research, and foundations in the College of Education, this union brings additional benefits and resources to the program.

“We are excited for this opportunity to partner with the premier organization in the Pikes Peak region focused on leader development training for professionals in the nonprofit, for-profit, educational, and military sectors of our community,” Wehrman said. “We intend to build on the high-quality work and long-standing partnerships already established by Leadership Pikes Peak while helping to expand the organizations reach by integrating current research in leader development, continuous improvement through program evaluation and leveraging the resources available at a research/teaching focused university committed to community support and integration. Together we will help power Leadership Pikes Peak in meeting the needs of future professionals within El Paso County and beyond!”

Melanie Sue Hicks, Ph.D., founder of InPursuit continues to act as Program Director, and the partnership brings new opportunities but doesn’t affect the current curriculum and format of the program.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are thrilled to embark on the next chapter of Leadership Pikes Peak Powered by UCCS,” Hicks said. “This partnership will open doors for innovation and collaboration unmatched by any other leadership program in Colorado Springs.”

Applications are now open for the nine-month Signature Program, and orientation starts on August 29.
