- The Division of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in partnership with Human Resources will be launching the Equity Reimagined: Search & Hire Training Series. The two-part training series will be comprised of: Search Guidelines & Equitable Hiring Practices & Becoming an Equity Advocate. Part Two: Becoming an Equity Advocate will focus on training interested faculty and staff on how to serve as the equity advocate on a hiring search. This training will include a bias mitigation tactics, overview of policy and protected classes, scenarios. This training will be offered in a hybrid capacity, please indicate during your registration if you plan to attend in person or virtually.

This residential house features many sustainability materials and practices that students, faculty, and staff can consider for their current and future apartments and homes. Peak FreQuency Presents: Catherine Sikora

- The first performance in the spring 2024 Peak FreQuency Concert Series features saxophonist Catherine Sikora, who will perform a solo improvised piece on tenor saxophone, followed by the composition des os (for tenor saxophone, with pre-recorded saxophone and electronics). Sikora’s solo improvisations are informed by the space and location of each performance, responding to the unique resonant and tonal characteristics of each room, and how they affect the sound of her saxophone. 2024 Spring Residency: La Presencia de la Ausencia/ The Presence of Absence (a Cuban nocturne)

- The Heller Center will be presenting a staged reading of Women’s & Ethnic Studies Professor Andrea Herrera’s play. The Presence of Absence is a memory play that chronicles the lives of several generations of Cuban women. The action of the play is set in both pre- and post-revolutionary Cuba; and the plot pivots on Margarita, an exile residing in the United States, who attempts to come to terms with her divided identity, a traumatic past she has suppressed, and her fear of sharing her heritage with her daughter, Lily. This event is free but has limited spots, please register in advance here.
