UCCS faculty and staff participated at the highest rate of CU campuses in the Be Colorado SUCCEED Health Assessment program.
Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak was notified of the award May 14 by representatives of Be Colorado, the wellness component of the CU Health Plan. This is the second consecutive year that UCCS faculty and staff won an informal competition between the campuses for participation in the wellness campaign. The assessment program is a free, voluntary effort where faculty and staff complete an online questionnaire about health goals and activities including the amount of time spent exercising.
As a result of this year’s participation rates, a traveling trophy will remain at UCCS. It is housed in the Office of the Chancellor.
“The prize isn’t a trophy,” Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said. “The value is that we are more aware of our health and the steps that we can take to make us feel better at work and at home. I thank everyone who participated in the assessment and encourage others to consider taking this small step toward a healthy lifestyle.”
This year, campus participation rates were:
- UCCS, 20.3 percent
- CU Denver, 16.3 percent
- CU-Boulder, 13 percent
- Anschutz Medical Campus, 12.1 percent
