Volunteers and members of the UCCS Recreation Center joined forces April 26 to clean and maintain the campus trail system.
According to Andrea Hassler, trails specialist, Recreation Center, 25 volunteers assisted Recreation Center workers pick up six buckets of trash, construct five rock risers, repair a retaining wall and clearly mark more than 200 feet of trail.
“We want to make sure while everyone is enjoying our beautiful trail system, that we also protect the surrounding environment,” Hassler said. “With regular maintenance we can help prevent erosion and provide campus with a more enjoyable experience.”
The event was cosponsored by UCCS Serves, a program from the Office of Student Activities and Office of the Dean of Students.
