The Colorado Springs Fire Department will conduct training exercises on campus March 16-23.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16, fire fighters will conduct high-angle rescue training near the site of the Stanton Road Parking Garage currently under construction on the west side of the UCCS campus.
Additionally, CSFD will conduct basic firefighter skills training on several wood structures in Cragmor Village on the east side of the campus near University Hall. These exercises will take place at varying times March 16-23.
Brian McPike, interim police chief, encouraged the campus community to not be alarmed at the site of several large fire trucks and members of the CSFD heavy rescue team on campus. Other fire personnel will be observing or may play the role of victims in mock rescue drills.
“These exercises are for practice purposes only,” McPike said. “I ask your assistance by staying clear of the area and sharing with friends and colleagues information about the mock drills.”
Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to call the UCCS Police Dispatch Center, 255-3111.
