Three UCCS accounting majors have been awarded scholarships from the Educational Foundation of the Colorado Society of CPAs for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Each scholarship is valued at $3,000. Scholarships are awarded to accounting juniors, seniors and graduate students throughout the State of Colorado. Scholarship winners from UCCS are:

  • Jacklynn Snyder Larson, Crowe Scholarship
  • Bridget Kalicki, Mark and Victoria Smith Family Foundation Scholarship
  • Theresa Hornung, Educational Foundation of COCPA Scholarship

“Our faculty are very proud of Bridget, Jacklynn and Theresa,” said Brian McAllister, department chair. “It’s a real honor to be awarded a scholarship from the Colorado Society of CPAs Educational Foundation. We’re grateful to the Educational Foundation for supporting our students and those throughout the State of Colorado.”

Last year, the UCCS College of Business was approved to be a University Affiliate Program by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, becoming one of approximately 500 universities globally and 250 in the United States to earn the distinction.

Affiliate status is granted to academic institutions whose finance curriculum adheres to the CFA Exam Body of Knowledge in scope and quality. The Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in finance was acknowledged for incorporating the majority of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct within the program. This program positions students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst charter, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.

The CFA Institute UAP signals to potential students, employers and the marketplace that the College of Business finance curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. It’s through participation in this program that UCCS is eligible to receive a limited number of CFA Program Student Scholarships each year.
