A former prison inmate and self-described “garden variety loser” who became a best-selling author and founder of his own company will share his message during a free speech at 5:30 p.m. March 18 in Centennial Hall Room 188
Weldon Long, author of “The Upside of Fear: How One Man Broke the Cycle of Prison, Poverty and Addiction” and “The Power of Consistency” will deliver a message of dealing with adversity in life and business.
Long, of Colorado Springs, is a motivational speaker who offers what he calls Prosperity Mindset Training to organizations across the country. His visit to UCCS is sponsored by the Development Office of the University Advancement Division.
“Weldon’s message of changing the way we think about bad news is important,” Jaime Garcia, executive director, Development Office, said. “Bad things are going to happen to us. It’s how we deal with those things that decide if we will be successful. He provides important perspective and suggestions for success.”
The event is free for faculty, staff and students. Registration is requested by March 12. To register, visit https://secure.www.alumniconnections.com/olc/pub/UCOC/event/showEventForm.jsp?form_id=169538.
