Former Facebook executive, author and now Broadway singer Randi Zuckerberg, will speak at 7 p.m. April 15 at the Gallogly Events Center.
Zuckerberg, sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and the social media company’s former director of market development, will deliver a discussion of social media, technology, and how it influences lives. Her comments will be based on her best-selling book “Dot Complicated” and will blend her experiences with Facebook, as an author and, most recently, as a singer in “Rock of Ages,” a Broadway musical.

The event is part of the Significant Speakers Series offered by the Office of Student Activities and Residence Life and Housing. Last year, scientist Neal deGrasse Tyson filled the Gallogly Events Center. In 2012, science educator Bill Nye was the featured speaker.
“We wanted to go a little different direction this year,” Stephen Cucchiara, assistant director, Student Activities, said. “Randi Zuckerberg will give us many things to think about, just as our previous speakers did, but with a very different tone and feel from what they offered.”
Zuckerberg, 32, was ranked among 50 “Digital Power Players” by the Hollywood Reporter. She previously was the director of market development and spokeswoman for Facebook and founded Zuckerberg Media where she remains as CEO. She is also editor in chief of Dot Complicated, a digital lifestyle website. At Zuckerberg Media, she has produced digital content for The Clinton Global Initiative, Cirque du Soleil, the United Nations, Conde Nast and Bravo.
Additionally, she has been a correspondent for ABC News/Facebook Democratic Party and Republican Party U.S. Presidential primaries debates in 2008 and as a correspondent for both Republican and Democrat National Conventions in addition to numerous network television appearances.
She’s is the author of “Dot Complicated: Untangling Our Wired Lives,” a New York Times bestseller as well as “Spark Your Career in Advertising” and a children’s book, “Dot.”
In March, she announced that she would do a two-week stint in “Rock of Ages” the Tony Award-nominated musical that celebrates rock music of the 1980s. She will play the role of city planner Regina whose numbers include Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and Jefferson Starship’s “We Built This City.”
