EPIIC to host Lion’s Den Pitch Night

The UCCS El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization will partner with Peak Venture Group to sponsor a business competition modeled after the popular television show “The Shark Tank” Feb. 24 at the Lodge.

From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a panel of judges will review proposals from local entrepreneurs in a fashion similar to the popular television show. Called Lion’s Den Pitch Night, the event will feature six proposals, including those made by student teams from UCCS, Colorado College, and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Each team will have five minutes to present its plan to a panel of judges. The judges are: Larry Goers, president, Speed Stacks Inc.; Peter Husak, chief executive officer, Team Pikes Peak; Steve Kaczmarek, coordinator of innovation and incubation, Colorado College, and owner of Fatbike; Bree Langemo, dean of business, public service and social sciences, Pikes Peak Community College; Aaron Stachel, senior associate, Miller Investment Management; and Tom Warda, chief commercialization officer, NewRevOps.

A team deemed the winner will receive $500 to help implement its idea.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration required. To register, visit http://epiic.uccs.edu.
