Allen Schoffstall, a UCCS chemistry professor, was recognized on June 9 at the William J. Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center during a celebration of the chemistry department and a toast to Schoffstall for his 55-plus years of teaching at UCCS.

Guests included alumni, current students, former and current faculty and staff, along with some of Schoffstall’s friends and family members.

The chemistry department’s celebration and toast to Schoffstall included a taco bar and an ice cream station – the best way to celebrate.

Event attendees were greeted by cloudy skies and rain, but that did not prevent them from enjoying the evening. The skies cleared and guests enjoyed their time on the Centura outdoor field and hearing about Schoffstall’s many contributions to UCCS.

Speakers at the event included Tom Christensen, UCCS professor and the emcee for the night; Venkat Reddy, UCCS Chancellor; Lynn Vidler, Dean of the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences; and Jane Peterson, a 1993 alum.

Schoffstall addressed the crowd and provided one of his classic top ten lists. The topic? Top Ten Things About 55 Years Ago.

The number ten item on his list: When I say where I work, people ask, “Where is that?”.

Attendees were prompted to make a gift to the Schoffstall Faculty Support Fund in Chemistry and Biochemistry to honor Schoffstall’s legacy at UCCS.
