Know before you go: Picture on the Plaza, Walk of Applause

Hundreds of graduates will soon walk the pedestrian spine at UCCS to be honored by faculty and staff and hear their names called, marking the achievement of earning a University of Colorado degree.

The first-ever Picture on the Plaza event will gather graduates, faculty and staff together in the same area for the first graduation celebration since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before arriving to the May 17 morning event, participants both on the graduate side and on the faculty and staff side should read up on a few simple tips.

For graduates participating in Picture on the Plaza

  • Parking is free/open; park in Gateway Parking Garage.  Graduates are parking in Lots 224 and 222.
  • Encouraged to wear regalia, but not mandatory. If you do not have regalia, dress is UCCS spirit wear, as this is a celebration, not a ceremony.
  • Be mindful of weather (sunscreen, umbrella).
  • Enter the pedestrian spine from the West Lawn end.
  • Staff member(s) will be on-site to direct you where to stand.
  • You are welcome to stay to applaud graduates of one, multiple or all colleges.  The more, the merrier!
  • Welcome to bring noise makers, pom poms, and other festive ‘parade’ items.
  • Wear face coverings.

Arrival information: Only Johnson Beth-El has an exact start times; all other college times are subject to change if registration numbers change significantly and/or photos are taken faster than anticipated.
