Experts share personal experiences, answer questions in town hall to confront anti-Asian stereotypes, violence

In a discussion led by Stephany Rose Spaulding, interim assistant vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion, four experts shared their personal experiences and sought to create space for discussion around recent acts of violence and anti-Asian stereotypes.

The experts included:

  • Stephen Cho Suh, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Sociology and Women’s and Ethnic Studies
  • Sandy Ho, Ph.D. Assistant Dean & Director of Student Affairs, College of Education Assistant Professor attendant rank of Languages & Cultures
  • Yang Wei, Ph.D. Associate Professor of History
  • George Bayuga, MA, MPhil Instructor of Anthropology

During the discussion, community members, students and UCCS faculty and staff asked questions and shared their experiences, leading to multiple participants thanking the town hall panel.

“Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences with the campus community today. Such a great conversation today and so many more important conversations to have,” one watcher wrote.
