McConkie Leadership Conference to feature veteran-led company which trains high-performance teams

A veteran-led company known for its experience in training high-performance teams will headline the 2021 McConkie Leadership Conference, hosted by the School of Public Affairs and Public Safety Initiative at UCCS.

The Friday, May 7 event will feature Jason Gardner of Echelon Front, who will conduct the conference on “Extreme Leadership.”

“The UCCS Public Safety Initiative is pleased to partner with Echelon Front, a group of decorated, combat-proven veterans with experience in building, training and leading high-performance teams,” said George Reed, School of Public Affairs dean. “Their formula for creating a culture of extreme ownership is one that will be appreciated by our fast-growing and dynamic community.”

Reed said Echelon Front became highly requested as a conference lead after community stakeholders engaged with podcasts and books released by Echelon Front members.

The one-day conference registration fee is $175, and registration is requested by April 30. More details can be located here.

The annual McConkie Leadership Conference is held in honor of late UCCS professor Mark McConkie who conducted a leader development event for those in the public sector for over 19 years.

“It is a fitting tribute to a gentleman and scholar that dedicated his professional life to teaching and learning,” Reed said. “The conference has grown to become the premier leader development event of the Pikes Peak Region.”
