Strengthen UCCS’ sustainability legacy with a Green Action Fund proposal

Students walk on Tava Trail, which connects Alpine and Summit Villages and was reconstructed thanks to funding from the Green Action Fund.

What do the SOLE Center’s eco-friendly snowboard wax machine, the treadmill study station at the Kraemer Family Library and the automatic water bottle filling stations on the UCCS campus have in common?

Each of these projects – and dozens more – have been funded through the Green Action Fund at UCCS, which empowers students, faculty and staff to leave a lasting legacy of good at UCCS. Now, students, faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for their own sustainable projects to the Green Action Fund committee.

The mission of the Green Action Fund is to reduce the ecological footprint of UCCS and promote student engagement and enrichment across campus. Past projects have funded Fresh Food Fridays at Clyde’s Cupboard, the on-campus food pantry; replaced Summit Village toilets and showerheads with high-efficiency models; reconstructed the Tava Trail that connects Alpine and Summit Villages, and more.

Strong project proposals demonstrate that they uphold the Green Action Fund’s five pillars: reduction of ecological footprint; intent to engage students; education and outreach; long-term feasibility; and broad impact on the UCCS student body.

All those interested in submitting proposals should submit a notification of intent to apply for funding by Friday, Mar. 26, 2021. Large grant applications are due by Friday, Apr. 2 and small grant applications are due Friday, Apr. 9.
