UCCS Chancellor Venkat Reddy recognized the work by campus faculty, staff, students and community members from the 2019-20 academic year in a virtual campus presentation distributed Dec. 10.
The awards, recipients and video presentations are:
- Campus Legacy Builders: Frederick Coolidge, professor of psychology, and Alexander Soifer, professor of interdepartmental studies
- Faculty Assembly Service Award: Elizabeth Daniels, associate professor of psychology
- Students’ Choice Award for Educator of the Year: Amy Klocko, assistant professor of biology
- Student Achievement Award: Abigail Solis, JayJay Porcadilla
- Ron Wisner Human Spirit and Leadership Award: Philip Oke-Thomas
- Thomas F. McLaughlin Award: Aleesa Muir, Matthew Clarke
- Alumni and Friends Award: Karen and Jim Possehl
- Student Employee of the Year Award: Jade Nelson Gallagher
- Campus Sustainability Award: Margaret Gaddis, lecturer of biology
- Faculty Award for Excellence in Research: Andrew Subudhi, professor and chair of human physiology and nutrition
- Outstanding Instructor Award: Timothy Fal, senior instructor of physics and energy science
- Outstanding Teacher Award: Stephen Carter, assistant professor of English
- Chancellor’s Award: Peter Gorder, associate professor and chair of mechanical and aerospace engineering
- Garrett Swasey Outstanding Staff Award: Stephanie Hanenberg, assistant vice chancellor for health and wellness
- CU Elizabeth D. Gee Memorial Lectureship Award: Mary Ann Cutter, professor of philosophy
- CU Staff Council Service Excellence: Heather Allen, former executive assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and Aaron Burton, program manager for campus policy and space use
- CU Foundation McCord Excellence in Fundraising Award: Lisa Bartholme, assistant director of alumni relations and the annual fund
The in-person event typically occurs in April at the end of each academic year, and after hopes to hold an in-person event for the fall, it was moved into an online presentation.
